Public Transport: Until 5:30 pm, leaving from Papeete (not on the weekend).
Car rental: At the airport, in Papeete, or in Taravao.
Shuttle: To be booked with us. Recommended for night-time arrivals.

The reception is open from 7:30 am until 8 pm.


Arrival from 3 pm, departure at 12 pm.
You can extend your stay and avail of the “fare pote’e” (showers and restrooms), and of course the garden and the pool.


In the village, only 15 minutes on foot: a grocery store.
By the roadside: fruits and vegetables vendors, fresh fish.
In Taravao, 9 miles away: supermarkets, hospital, doctors, Post office, banks, hairdressers, and beautician.


Cancellation or changes 15 days or more from the arrival date: refund of down payment. An administration fee corresponding to one night will be invoiced.
Less than 15 days from the arrival date: the stay is due in full.


Access is easy. The drive is about an hour and fifteen minutes long. As you leave the airport, follow the signs for Punaauia. Drive 34 miles to the outskirts of Taravao. Follow the sign for Teahupoo on the right. Drive for another 9 miles. Take a left (up the hill) when you see the Vanira Lodge sign. The trail climbs for 300 yards and takes you to a plateau. There you are. We are located 1.5 miles before the end of the main road.

In the Nature and Sundeck “fare”: fan, mosquito repellent plugs, and mosquito nets above the beds.
In the Spa “fare”: air conditioning
Kitchen (if any): fridge, electrical burner, micro-wave oven, coffee machine and kettle. Dishcloth, sponge, washing-up liquid, salt, pepper.


VANIRA LODGE belongs to the “fare d’hôtes” category, a special classification of French hostelries, for types of accommodation in which guests stay on a private property.
We make bungalows available to our clients on our property.
The reception is open from 7 am to 8 pm.
Outside of these hours, please go directly to our house, which is located within the grounds.


Free wi-fi in the pavilion.


Our bungalows are built in the midst of nature, nestled against the mountain, and surrounded by vegetation. In spite of all our attentions, you may well encounter lizards, caterpillar or ants. The air-conditioned “fare” are better protected from creeping creatures.


Highly recommended. The LOCAUTO agency in Taravao delivers whenever possible.
Booking is recommended.

Near Teahupoo: The coastal path up to Vaipoiri cave, the Te Pari (guide recommended), hike across the peninsula (guide recommended).
Near Tautira: Hike up the river, seaside walk beyond the marina.
Near Faaone: The 6 waterfalls.

Boat shuttles leave from the marina, 500 yards away from Vanira Lodge.
1.2 miles away, the Havae (“Teahupoo”) spot is accessible by paddle.
Ava Ino and Ava Iti spots: boat shuttle necessary.
